Our Work With Girls At Risk

Ten to twelve thousand children from rural areas are trafficked and prostituted to pedophiles each year, in a continuous cycle of abuse.  Sri Lanka is one of the favored destinations of pedophile sex tourists from Europe and the United States.

Western pedophile sex tourists in Sri Lanka exploit an estimated 30,000 Sri Lankan children.  Sri Lanka is also a principal source of child pornography for the United States and Europe.  The problem of child prostitution and sex tourism is a particular problem in the South and South West, where Resplendent Hope works.  Places such as: Hikkaduwa, Negombo, Colombo, Mt. Lavinia and Galle report the highest incidence of abuse.

Too often girls are “rescued” and put into public institutions where they are once again victimized.  In Pastor Adrian’s home for girls at risk in Colombo, the girls are trained in a vocation and remain until married or capable of supporting and protecting themselves.

Girls At Risk Home Expansion

In March 2008, your generous gifts helped complete the expansion of the home for girls at risk.  The new home supports up to 50 girls and provides safety, love and protection.
